She graduated from Coronado high school in 1975. After high school she joined the Navy, where she was medically released after boot camp. She then entered a long career in food service in the late 70’s to early 80’s, managing the Waffle House in Aurora and Colorado Springs, the local airlines, and Cocos restaurant. She transitioned to the custodial staff for The Colorado state patrol, and in 1995 she started her career with Fountain Fort Carson School District #8, where she served nearly 20 years with the transportation department. She started out as a bus driver, her favorite being her special education route, washing buses and retiring as a dispatcher.
She had a love for crocheting, auto racing, rodeo, ranch dressing, salted real butter, family history and ancestry, her family and most of all her grandchildren. Cindy loved any and all the kids friends as her own, she had the most infectious laugh, and will be terribly missed by all who knew her.
Cindy was a beloved wife, mom, sister, aunt, and grandma, also known as “mom” to her youngest grandchildren. She is survived by her Husband of 36 years, Dwane Baker, children Candie Finch, Angela(Jerry) Tomsha, Joney Carneal, Chris(Charity)Baker, Tara Smith, Ivy(Justin) Conway, Cody Baker, Brittney(Shawn) Carroll. 21 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, her brother Mike(Andra) Stephens, nieces Sarah, Alyce, Mollie and Chelsey and nephew Donald. Proceeded in death by her parents Paul and Carol Stephens, her sister Pamela Hogan, and her in-laws George and Mary Baker.
In-lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fountain Historical Society and the Hanover Fire Department.
A visitation for Cynthia will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Dove Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. US Highway 85/87, Fountain, Colorado 80817, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
