Alan was born on September 3, 1952, to Floyd and Elizabeth Hutchins. He was the eldest of four children. His family moved to Fountain, CO in 1968.
After Alan graduated from Fountain Ft. Carson High School in 1970, he worked in the construction and manufacturing industries until he found his niche in warehouse management.
Alan was an avid reader, a lifelong habit he developed in childhood. Also, he enjoyed model railroading, a hobby that connected him with many people; and he had a great appreciation for the beauty of the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
Alan’s servant leadership, his deep concern for children and teens, as well as his ability to connect with and make long-term relationships with people, will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and his church family.
Alan leaves behind his high school sweetheart and beloved wife, Elizabeth “Beth”, of nearly 50 years of marriage; his sister Kathryn (Joseph) Czanderna, and many nieces and nephews. In addition, Alan leaves behind his “adopted” boys, Alex and Bjorn Webber, who were truly like sons to him.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Elizabeth; his brother, Kelvin; his sister, Amelia R. Carrillo; and his infant daughter, Ashley Sue.
A memorial service to celebrate Alan’s life was held on February 2, 2024, at Eastborough Church of the Nazarene in Colorado Springs, CO. Family members and close friends attended a private burial service when he was laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Fountain, CO.
