Willie Mae Tillery Lemons was born on December 28, 1928 and passed away on April 26, 2022, in Grapevine, TX. She was raised in nearby Euless by her parents Jesse Albert and Cora Taylor Tillery. She graduated in 1946 from Euless School.
On October 22, 1948, Willie Mae married George W. Lemons, Jr. They raised their children, Ron and Kaye, on the east side of Fort Worth. She was active in the schools that her children attended and worked during school hours for Selma Printing and later at Monnig’s Dept. Store. She and George moved to Littleton, CO, in 1974. They returned to Fort Worth in 1976 where she worked as a teacher’s aid in Special Education at Fort Worth Bonnie Brae Elementary until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling with George to see the sights of the US with highlights being Hawaii and Alaska. She later lived in North Richland Hills, Bedford, and Grapevine.
Willie Mae was the ultimate wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her great grandchildren dubbed her Gigi which was her favorite nickname. Willie Mae loved to bake for her family. No one made cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, apricot fried pies, cakes and pies like Gigi! She also loved to crochet, gifting many afghans to family and friends. When afghans became too heavy for her to complete, she began crocheting baby beanies. She provided about 4000 beanies to her granddaughter’s pediatric practice.
She was preceded in death in 2008 by her loving husband George (Junior), parents Jesse and Cora Tillery, siblings Marshall, Albert, William, Thelma, and Ethelene. She will be greatly missed by her children Ron and Pat Lemons and Kaye and Ken Moore, her grandchildren Brent and Whitney Lemons, Anji and Chris Selzer, Carisa and Justin Grieve, Lyndsey and Jason Puckett, and Blake and Vy Lemons, her great grandchildren Reid, Grant, Andrew, Ian, Zachary, Reese, Brynn, and Ellie, and her nephew James Tillery.
