Wesley William Neill, 97, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, went to join his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 12, 2021, in Fort Worth, Texas. Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. immediately followed by the Memorial Service at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 20, at Laurel Land, located at 7100 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth. Wes was born June 16, 1924, in Philadelphia, PA. As someone we all looked up to, he was a kind, hard working and loving man of God who we were blessed to have in our lives. A Corpsman in the U.S. Navy who served in WWII aboard the USS Saratoga, Wes spent most of his life and career in service to others, while travelling the world well into his 80s. Preceded in death by his daughter Carol Smith (2021), and granddaughter Heather Smith (1971). He is survived by his beloved wife of 77 years Mary Hughes Neill, his son David Neill and wife Gwen, and daughter Kathy Hayek. Granddaddy, as he was known by his adoring family, was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Wes will be greatly missed and forever be remembered as someone who always had his priorities in order: Faith, Family, Service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Wes’s name to: Gambrell Street Baptist Church in Fort Worth where he was a Deacon for several decades.
