Vivian J. Lincoln was born on April 13, 1956, in Drew County, Arkansas to Earl Sr. and Sudie Johnson. She graduated with Honors from Monticello High School in 1974. She went on to also graduate with Honors, from The University of Arkansas at Monticello, in 1978. Vivian further extended her academic career by obtaining her Master’s Degree from Texas Christian University, in 1994. She loved learning and the field of education. It would become her life’s work.
Vivian’s professional career began in Monticello, Arkansas where she taught for 10 years before moving to Fort Worth, TX in the late eighties. She continued her work as a middle school educator for several years in Fort Worth ISD. In 1996, she was promoted to Associate Principal at Crowley High School. Years later, she was named the first female African American principal in Crowley ISD. She led Jackie Carden Elementary for 15 wonderful years before she retired in 2017. In total, she committed 39 years of her life to making a remarkable difference in the educational system.
Vivian was an outstanding educator, Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She worked to selflessly serve others in her community, her former staff and students, friends, and family. Her generosity was always clear and always heartfelt.
During her early years, she professed her Christian faith and joined Pilgrim Rest A.M.E Church in Monticello, Arkansas. Upon moving to Fort Worth, she joined the historic Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church. Vivian was a faithful and humble servant of God.
Vivian united in holy matrimony to her husband, Charles Lincoln, on July 19, 2003, in Fort Worth, TX. They were married for 18 years as a devoted couple. Vivian has two children: Matthew Trotter and Melissa Smith, and two stepchildren, Charles Lincoln IV and Hillary Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Johnson Sr.; her mother, Sudie Johnson; sister, Sylvia Allen.
Vivian leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband of 18 years, Charles Lincoln; a son, Matthew Trotter (Krystal) of Fort Worth; a daughter, Melissa Smith (Jerold) of Fort Worth; four grandchildren, Jae’lyn, Kennadie, J.W., and Josiah; Sister, Luwanda Franklin of Fort Worth; a brother, Earl Johnson Jr. of Monticello, AR; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends;
Vivian’s unwavering excellence, wisdom, love, and care will live on in the lives of all those who knew and cherished her.
A visitation for Vivian will be held Monday, May 23, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 7100 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76134.
Her homegoing service will be Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 10:00 AM, also at Laurel Land, with interment to follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
