Virginia Lee Hawthorne was born on December 6,1933 to the parentage of Evie Grigsby and O. T. Knight in Minden, Louisiana. Where she also attended grade school and Webster High school. She met and married her lifelong love and friend Nathaniel (Bud) Hawthorne in 1951. Four children were born to this union.
At an early age that Virginia confessed her life to Christ. Served as an Usher and other Auxiliaries at Wesley Grove C.M.E Church in Cotton Valley Louisiana. The family relocated to Fort Worth, TX in 1965. After joining Strangers Rest Baptist Church, she served as past President of the Ushers and a faithful member. She will greatly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was a valued employee at Ray’s Custom Cleaners for over thirty years and retired after her health failed.
On October 24, 2020, Virginia Lee Hawthorne surrendered to the call of her Lord and transitioned from earth to glory. She was preceded in death by:
her parents; and two sons Watkin Nathaniel (Buster) and Jerry Wayne. A grandson Virgil Lee Hawthorne Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her loving husband, Nathaniel Hawthorne, her children, Virgil (Kysha) and Donald Ray; 2 grandchildren, Andre Hall and Dwanda Robinson, 5 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 6 God-children; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends.
