home on December 26, 2023, after his courageous battle with liver cancer.
Born to Genaro & Beatrice Fernandez, Virgilio was a kind and funny husband, father,
grandfather, great-grandfather, AND great-great-grandfather who is survived by his two brothers,
two sisters, five sons, four daughters, sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren &
four great-great-grandchildren – all of whom will miss him dearly.
He had a rewarding career at Martin Sprocket & Gear for many years as a machine operator. In
his spare time, Virgilio would work on his family's cars – which was always a great pastime for
him. Seeing him covered in oil was nothing new. He was a fixer-upper; nothing was too difficult
for him to tackle.
Outside of work, Virgilio enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years with friends and
family, which made him happy. His best times were spent having family gatherings and
cookouts. He always looked forward to spending time with his ever-growing family.
He will always be remembered for his kindness, but most of all his sense of humor. Even till the
end, he never stopped smiling and laughing. He fought so fiercely to stay on this Earth for his
family, whom he loved very much. He loved with his entire being but in the end, the Lord called
his son home. I don’t believe that any of us could ever eat another tamale without smiling and
thinking of you, Dad. We will always remember it as your poison.
Preceded in death by his wife, Enedelia Fernandez, and his two sons, Robert and Genaro.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the many nurses and
nurses' aides at both Valor Hospice and A Better Solutions Home Care for their compassion and
assistance during this difficult time.
We also extend a special thank you to our sister-in-law, Bertha "Princess" Fernandez, whose
support helped us make it through this difficult time. We love and appreciate you more than
words could ever say.
