Vernon Albert Newton was born in Fort Worth, Texas on July 8, 1939, and after a long illness, died on March 3, 2021 at his residence. Vernon was the youngest of eleven children and was the last surviving member of his family of origin. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Newton (1895-1958), and Ernestine Tanner Anderson (1902-1983), his ten siblings, and his son Vernon Azrie Newton (1962-2013).
Vernon is survived by his wife of 58 years, Delores Ellean Tucker Newton, his only daughter, Angele Newton Hodges (Ramon), two sons, Jerry Brooks (Rhonda) and Michael McKinney, his daughter-in-law Jodi Johnson Newton, fifteen grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family and many, many friends.
Due to COVID-19 constraints, and out of genuine concern for the welfare of others, there will be no wake or public memorial service for Vernon Newton. A public viewing will be held at Gregory W. Spencer Funeral Directors 4000 Miller Avenue Fort Worth, TX 76119. Vernon’s gravesite service will be private and restricted to family. All family members should be masked and should observe social distancing at all times.
