Visitation will be 11:00 am, Monday, October 24th, 2022 at Forest Hill Community Bible Church located at 4600 Forest Hill Circle, Forest Hill, Texas.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm, October 24, 2022, at Forest Hill Community Bible Church with Pastor Kevin Riley, officiating. Burial will follow at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.
Ulysses Howard, Jr. was born in Glennville, Georgia to union of Ulysses Howard Sr., and Louise Roberson September 22, 1944. Ulysses attended Lincoln Park Academy, Ft. Pierce Florida. Upon graduating from the Academy, at 18 years old, "Howard" enlisted in the United States Air Force.
Tech Sergeant Howard proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He completed Senior NOC Academy (Correspondence), NOC Academy 22AF Leadership School, OJT Managers Course, Effective Writing Courses and held a SECRET United States Security Clearance. As Tech Sergeant Ulysses Howard, was awarded several medals: Air Force Commendation Medal for distinguished meritorious service as Administrative Specialist, Directorate of Supply, Deputy Chief of Staff, Logistics, Headquarters 22 Air Force. And Commendation Medal Military Airlift Command at Travis Air Force Base. Sergeant Howard’s superior professional skill, judgment and management techniques were of significant value to administrative requirements vital to attainment of primary supply objectives throughout the Pacific Theater of Air Lift Fleet operations. As Tech Sergeant, he also received; Air Force Commendation Medal Meritorious Service in Washington, D.C., Air Force Commendation Medal (First Oak Leaf Cluster) as Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Unit Administration, 60th Field Maintenance Squadron, Travis Air Force Base and Strategic Air Command Certificate of Achievement.
Ulysses married Helen Jean Howard on July 26, 1980, in Fairfield, California on Travis Air Force Base. From their union they have a daughter; Kimberly Michelle Howard who he adored.Tech Sergeant Howard, was promoted in rank to Master Sergeant. Having served faithfully and honorably for over 20 years, Master Sergeant Ulysses Howard, Jr. retired from the United States Air Force on October 1, 1985. After retiring from the United States Air Force, Master Sergeant Howard, went on to work over 20 years with the United States Postal Service, to then retire with Awards of Appreciation and Gratitude.
Ulysses has a fun loving sense of humor and had "jokes" for all his caregivers even in his most challenging times. Ulysses was a kind, generous man and often lent his support to his nieces and nephew's higher education pursuits. He also loved to Bowl and was a member of a Bowling league, winning many first-place trophies. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboy fan and loved talking sports with his grandson. Ulysses loved to travel with his beloved wife Helen and family, frequently visiting Florida and the beautiful Hawaiian Islands.
Master Sergeant Ulysses Howard, Jr. is survived by his beloved, devoted and beautiful wife, Helen Jean Howard of 42 years. He is also survived by his 91 year old mother-in-law Mae Ester Williams Smith, who he adored. Ulysses is survived by his daughter; Kimberly Michelle Brown and Son-in-Law DeJuan Dante Brown, Sons Darrell Dewayne Mosley and Joel Kevin Garcia Howard. He is the proud Grandfather of Dio’Vonte Ulysses Howard, Aerious Qaushon Mosley Allen, Zacharia Mosley and Great-Grandfather of Aerionna Marley Allen.
Ulysses is also survived by his sisters and brothers Annette Howard-Marshall, Jessie Harris, Dana Harris, Gloria Harris, Herman Harris, Lillian Harris and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins
Preceding Ulysses in death are his parents Ulysses Howard Sr. and Louise Roberson and sister Betty Smith.
Memorials may be made in his honor to his beloved home church Forest Hill Community Bible Church where for many years he served faithfully as Deacon and took great care of the Church interior, maintenance, housekeeping and was recently named Treasurer.
