Tuyet was born in Nam Dinh, Vietnam on October 10, 1933. In her 20’s she moved to Bien Hoa with her husband and became a rice merchant. With only a middle school education, she owned her own business and would become a successful entrepreneur, providing abundantly for her family.
In 1975, she fled the war torn country. Her family was sponsored by Saint Edward’s Catholic Church in Waterloo, Iowa. Tuyet raised seven children on her own in Iowa working as a food service worker in the children’s school. In 1981, Tuyet was able to sponsor her husband to the U.S. They later moved to Ft. Worth where she became a devout member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Tuyet donated a tremendous amount of her time to the building of the Fatima church, and worked nights and weekends to prepare foods that would be used to raise funds for the church. Tuyet and her husband, Dan Nguyen, were married for 68 years.
Tuyet is survived by her husband, Dan Nguyen of Ft. Worth and their seven children: her son Peter (Kim) Nguyen of Ft. Worth, her daughter Spring (Tien) Nguyen of North Carolina, her daughter Dawn (Eddie) Nguyen of California, her daughter Thuy (Jim) Saliba of Georgia, her daughter Thao (Chris) Romero of Missouri, her son Tom (Oanh) of North Carolina and her daughter Taylor Nguyen of Ft. Worth. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren: Dee (Michael), Lilly (Tan), Ngoc, Tuyen, Tony, Linda, Lisa, Thomas, David, John, Michael, Huy, Christina, Hope, Andrew and two great-grandchildren: Kenny and Grace.
She is preceded in death by her oldest daughter Lien (Trung) Phan of Iowa.
The funeral service will be held at 7:30 AM on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 5109 E. Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, Texas. Visitation will be held from 4:00-9:00 PM on June 22, 2017 and June 23, 2017 at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel and Cemetery, 7301 E. Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, Texas.
