FORT WORTH -- Travis Lee Petty, 81, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012. Travis was born Nov. 20, 1930, in Hillsboro,Texas to Otha Lee Petty and Annie Mae Carroll Petty, both deceased. He moved to Fort Worth in 1936. Travis graduated from Birdville High School in 1948 and then attended Texas A&M and Texas Tech before serving in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1954. He served on a destroyer in the Pacific with an honorable discharge. He retired in 1990 after 33 years of service with General Motors and then Arlington Security Department.
Survivors: Wife, Mildred Sutton Petty; sons, Travis Lee Petty Jr. and wife, Karen, and Gary Lee Petty; and grandchildren, Amye Cole and Andy Cole and wife, Holly.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, make donations to a charity of choice in his memory.
