Thomas Durwood Barnes, born on April 3, 1932 in Fort Worth, Texas, passed away at age 86 on April 29, 2018. Durwood began his career at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in 1946 as a Galley Boy in the Composing Room. He left to serve 3 years in the Navy during the Korean war, then returned to the Star Telegram as a Journeyman Printer. He met his wife, Carolyn, on a blind date to Burgers Lake in 1953, and they were married 8 months later. He became Ad Room Foreman in 1968, and moved to Systems Manager in 1975. After retiring in 1995, he became a Texas Master Gardener. Durwood is survived by his daughters, Cathy Hutchison and Karen McConathy; and grandchildren, Chase Hutchison, Bethany Hutchison, Austin McConathy, and Elissa McConathy. Funeral Services will be held Friday May 4, 2018 at 10:00 at Laurel Land Funeral Home.
