It is with endless sorrow that we announce the passing of Sherry Ray Utchell. Sherry was called Home on the morning of May 9th, 2023, after a long-fought battle with cancer. A warrior through and through, Sherry was truly a force to be reckoned with. A loving mother and grandmother, a darling daughter, adored sister, treasured friend, and devoted wife, Sherry touched many hearts and left a lasting impression on anyone lucky enough to have been a part of her life.
Born in McKinney, Texas, Sherry and her brother Rick were raised by their doting father, Raymond, whose career was in the aerospace industry. They enjoyed traveling as a family and continued to do so throughout Sherry’s upbringing, creating beautiful memories and stories to tell.
Sherry found the love of her life early on when she met her husband, Chris in February of 1989. Between their children, more pets than you could count, the continued tradition of traveling the country, going to concerts, attending The World Series, and throwing the best parties around, Sherry and Chris built an amazing life for their family.
Sherry never met a stranger and always made you feel so very comfortable in her presence. You could walk in her house for the first time and feel at home. Among her many superpowers, she knew how to make you laugh, to ease your pain, to lift you up when you felt like nothing could. You could always depend on her to laugh at your bad jokes, know what you needed before you even knew you needed it, and she was a wealth of knowledge for just about any subject. A conversation with Sherry was always a lively one and you certainly never forgot it.
Sherry had such a strong presence in the lives she touched; she loved deeply, and you knew that if you had her in your corner, you could overcome any obstacle. We are inspired by Sherry’s strength and changed evermore by the love she gave us. Our lives are forever transformed by her, and the devastation that’s been left by losing her is infinite.
Sherry leaves behind her four children: Daymon Ray and his fiancé, Debra Erb; Eric Utchell; Kramer Utchell and his partner, Keri Pierini; Ariel Roebuck with her husband, Bryan; and Sherry’s dearly loved grandchildren, Kai and Brendan Roebuck.
Sherry is also survived by her husband, Chris Utchell; her father, Raymond Ray and his wife, Debbie; and her brother, Richard Ray with his wife, Susy.
Please join us in celebrating Sherry’s life on Sunday, May 28th from 2pm to 5pm at 3620 Horace Ave , Ft. Worth, TX 76244
