Scott Blane Word was born to Bruce Word and Linda Word in Pasadena, Texas, on January 28, 1974, and departed this life on March 7, 2019, in Bedford, Texas, at the age of 45 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Word; his grandparents, Melvin and Marjorie Crouch; and by his beloved Aunt Patsy, whom he considered his grandmother, because of their very special relationship. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Taylor Paige Word, and by her mother, Michelle Word; by his mother, Linda Crouch Cutter and husband Jerry; by his sisters, Jennifer Paige Payne and husband Jay; and Leslie Dyan-Anita Stone and husband Scott; Adopted Brother, Greg Bognar; nephew, Tristan Scott Stone, and nieces, Mackenzie Icle Lynn Stone and Alexis Lauren Payne. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Scott graduated high school in 1992 from Maranatha Christian School in Arvada, Colorado, and attended Tabor College in Kansas. He was a road traffic control technician and an electrician.
Scott excelled at every sport he played. He especially loved soccer and football. He started playing soccer at age 5 and continued until age 15 at which time he decided he would try football. When playing soccer in Australia, he played on a country team in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, which ended up going to the state playoffs. Even though his team lost the championship, he was one of the leading scorers for the team. Because of his kicking ability, when he began playing football, he was the punter but also played the position of running back. Colorado had an all-state game, and Scott was chosen as the punter in that game out of all the punters in their league.
He was a Colorado University and Oklahoma University football fan and a Denver Broncos football fan all his adult life. He also had a love for fantasy football and golf.
When in school, he had a desire to talk, both in class and out of class. Thus, his mother spent a lot of time conferring with teachers and principals. His parents even devised a reward system where he would get a special treat every day that he got NO detentions!
Scott was very inventive when it came to prepare for a spanking. He would stuff extra underwear into his pants, toilet paper rolls, and even one time used books!
Scott had a very special circle of friends that started in their teenage years and continued to the day of his death. That group of friends has been a constant source of support, love (even tough love at times), encouragement, and adventure.
Scott’s daughter, Taylor, was the light of his life, and he loved her beyond measure.
Scott loved people, and they loved him, he was always willing to help everyone and will be truly missed.
