A Time to be born… Rufaye Reed life story began on the seventh day of January, nineteen hundred and forty seven in Freeport, Texas. She was born to Rosalie Jones Philson and Walter Henry Jones.
A Time to be Educated.. Rufaye attended Lanier High School where she graduated in the top of her class as the Salutatorian. After that she went on to attend The University of Houston where she would complete college.
A Time to show Love and Kindness.. Rufaye encouraged, motivated and loved everyone throughout her life and made their day with her winning smile. She enjoyed family time, but most importantly beating up on people in dominoes with her sister Walterine. She was an endearing Mother, Grandmother, Great grandmother, Sister, Aunt(known as Auntie Diva) and friend.
A Time to Worship.. Rufaye was an active member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church(Freeport, Tx) and later on in life she met Richard Reed and was a faithful member of Love Fellowship Christian Center (Fort Worth, Tx).
A Time to Fall in Love.. Rufaye was joined in Holy Matrimony on October 12, 1998 to her sweetheart of 23 years Richard Reed. Richard was more than a husband to Rufaye, he was her heart and soul.
A Time to Work.. Rufaye worked at Fort Worth ISD for 28years where she was loved and appreciated until retirement in 2017.
A Time to Return to Heaven.. Every story has an ending and with that being said on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, God needed her more and Rufaye Reed’s story ended, after a long battle with Cancer. She now dwells with those who preceded her in death; her Mother Rosalie Jones Philson, her Father Walter Henry, her two brothers Larry James Jones and Roland Daniels, sister Vera Jessie, and her beloved Aunt Esther Ray Tolbert.
A Time to Cherish Her Precious Memories.. Her memory will always shine in the hearts of her husband Richard Reed; Her sons, Thurston Jones(Fort Worth, Tx), Torre Campbell(New Jersey); her daughter, Tywana Norwood(Arlington Tx); Sisters, Walterine Jones Merchant(Richard Merchant/deceased), Shirley Johnson(Harry Johnson), Brenda Clark(Kenny Clark); Very special niece Raynische Jackson; Nephews, Frederick Johnson, Richard Jones, Rashaad Merchant, Roland Daniels Jr; Nieces, Tosha Courtney, Tina Longmiles, Yatonya Greer, Felicia Grant, Karhonda Johnson, Cicely Johnson, Tonya Jessie, Jackie Favors(Deceased), Rosalind Ramsey, Romona Daniels, Wanda Barefield Simmons, Tammy Barefield; Eleven grandchildren; Thirteen great grandchildren and other relatives and friends who were with her to the end.
