Mansfield, Texas - Rosa Elvira Leon, 92, passed away Sunday May 5, 2024 at her home in Mansfield, Texas surrounded by her family and friends.
Elvira was born on March 21, 1932 in Villahermosa, Colombia to Alcidiades and Susana Castano. Elvira graduated from high school in Villahermosa.
Elvira met the love of her life, Ricardo, in Colombia S.A. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married October 31, 1954. They were married for almost 40 years. In 1968, the family moved to Fort Worth, Texas. She was a member of Saint Jude Catholic Church in Mansfield.
Her passion was cooking, music, entertaining, fishing, dancing, sewing, but most of all spending time with her family. Elvira will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the love she shared with all those around her. Her legacy will forever be honored and cherished. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal love of her family and friends.
Elvira is preceded in death by her husband, Ricardo Leon Sr., in 1995. Parents Alcidiades and Susana Castano, siblings (brothers) Plinio Castano, Dario Castano, Josias Castano, Julio Castano.
Elvira is survived by children; daughter Susie Goins, son Ricardo Leon Jr. and daughter-in-law Teresa, son Walter Leon and son-in-law Jamie, siblings: (brother) Roberto Castano, (sister) Hermeida Murillo,
grandchildren: Bridgette Leon, Brandee Baker and husband Troy, Ricardo Leon III, Tisha Taylor and husband Chris, Jessica Read and husband Shane, Isabella Leon, greatgrandchildren: Brooklynn Fultz, Dale Fultz Jr., Allie Read, Jane Read, Samuel Read, Kylie Taylor, and Caden Taylor, and many nieces, nephews and longtime friends.
A visitation for Elvira will be held Monday May 13, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home 7100 Crowley Rd Fort Worth, TX 76134. A funeral service will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home (Chapel) May 14, 2024 at 2:00 PM.
