Roger Edward Jordan (Ed) was born in Fort Worth, Texas on July 18, 1933 and went to be with Jesus on June 2, 2021. After serving in the U.S. Army, he attended what was at the time Arlington State College, now the University of Texas at Arlington and spent the majority of his career as a board draftsman.
To say that Ed was an airplane enthusiast would be an understatement. As a boy, he developed an early interest in building and flying model airplanes. He continued that passion into adulthood, participating in a number of model airplane clubs. It naturally followed that his next step would be to obtain his private aircraft pilot license, which he did, and he owned two Luscombe aircraft during his flying years. He was a proud member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) for years, as well as the American Aviation Historical Society, and the American Air Museum in Britain.
Ed was a history buff and an avid reader and as such, spent many hours poring over his amazing collection of World War I and World War II books and periodicals. He could give you details off the top of his head on just about any aircraft and could draw them with perfection. He enjoyed watching the military history channels, especially footage of the wartime dogfights over Europe and the Pacific.
He was also a woodworking craftsman and enjoyed spending time at his workbench in our garage. A devoted family man, Ed was so very proud of his two firefighter sons and his two precious grandchildren. He truly loved his family, including all the dogs we've been blessed with over the years. You could never have met a more kind and gentle soul.
