Robie Annette Norris-Patterson entered God’s Kingdom on May 31, 2024. Robie was born November 26, 1951.
She was the youngest of four children to parents Robert and Ida B. Allen- Norris.
Robie “Annette” was raised in the Stop Six Community of Fort Worth, Texas where she and her family were longtime and faithful members at Mayfield Baptist Church.
With a lifelong gift and purpose for educating children, and after learning to play the piano while attending Mayfield (often practicing solo in an empty sanctuary) she ultimately used her piano skills to direct a Lamb’s Choir where she guided young children in Christian singing. Continuing that calling, she moved on to the quest of mentoring children in education at pre-school and kindergarten learning levels. This continued even after her retirement, where she held virtual reading sessions with her grandchild and assisted her friends’ children in developing their reading and comprehension skills.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Ida B. Norris, and an unborn child.
Annette is survived by John Calvin Patterson, her husband of forty-seven years, daughter Roneka Jonnette Patterson (Nathalie), granddaughter Norah Patterson Dadjé, siblings Glenda Norris, Shirley Norris-Hollins (Kenneth), and Ronnie Norris (Gwendolyn).
Upon graduating Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in 1970, Annette enrolled and graduated from Texas Wesleyan University, Fort Worth, Texas where she earned degrees in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. She was employed in Fort Worth ISD before relocating to Austin Texas in 1977.
Robie taught for Austin Independent School District for thirty-two years until retiring in 2008. Upon retirement, Robie continued working with children as a tutor, mentor, and substitute teacher.
