Robert Lee Newhouse, Sr. (R.L.) was born May 7, 1935 to the parentage of Lucious and Willie Mae Johnson Newhouse. He was a lifetime resident of Fort Worth, Texas. Robert attended Historic I.M. Terrell High School. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Trinity Baptist Church, now Paradise Missionary Baptist Church. He married Barbara Johnson and to this union three children were born: Tony, Robert, Jr. and Glory. He later married Dorothea Garrett and to this union two children were born: Chamerlain and Tiffany. R.L. was employed as a Supervisor at Royal Tile Manufacturing, Alcon Labs and Champion Dairy Pak from where he retired. He was industrious, hard-working a self-starter and owner of several successful business ventures including Rob's Burger Basket and Pool Hall on Miller and Hemphill Street. He loved golf, playing pool, dominoes and the Dallas Cowboys. R.L. passed from this life into the glorious transition into eternity on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, Kansas after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Robert Newhouse, Jr., daughter, Glory Newhouse; brothers, William and Lucious Newhouse; sisters, Margaret Thompson, Frances Walker, Mary Yaites, Annie Newhouse and Ruby George. Those left to cherish his memories; sons, Tony Newhouse, Sr. and Chamerlain Newhouse (April) of Lawrence, Kansas; daughter, Tiffany Newhouse of Houston, Texas; brother, Earl Newhouse; sister, Marnell Davis; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Newhouse and Mildred Newhouse; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, friend, Susan Riddle and a host of other relatives and friends.
