Robert Curtis Martin, age 61, of Fort Worth, Texas passed away on June 23, 2023 after a battle with leukemia. His family and friends are extremely proud of his strength and how hard he fought against the disease.
Robert was born June 22, 1962 in Fort Worth, Texas, where he lived until he moved to Burleson, Texas with his family at age 11. Robert enjoyed helping with his family’s land, and fishing and swimming in their pond. He graduated salutatorian from Joshua High School in 1980. Robert then attended Texas Wesleyan University and graduated with honors in 1984 with a degree in Business. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Robert worked with his father, Frank Martin, at Martin Printing Company until his father retired and closed the shop. Robert went on to have a successful career in printing, winning numerous outstanding sales awards. He gained many lifelong friends with his coworkers and customers throughout the years. Robert lived a full life, often enjoying all types of sporting events including the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and most of all the Dallas Stars! He could often be found on the golf course or attending horse races, concerts, and playing dominos. He and his devoted friend Hal Crews had such good times "playing the ponies" and watching sports together. Most of all, Robert was known for his kind, generous, and selfless heart.
Robert is survived by his parents, Franklin D. and Joyce K. Martin of Burleson; sisters, Angela Martin Kiger and husband Brian of Fort Worth, Debra Faye Martin of Fort Worth, and Brenda Kaye Holloway and husband Mark of Fort Worth; nephews Gregory Roper and wife Carlie of Dallas, and Mark Roper of Fort Worth; and grandnephew Jude Roper. Robert is also survived by his loving companion of 25 years, Heidi Hudler, and her daughter Dakota Canales of Fort Worth.
A very special thank you to all the family, friends, coworkers, and UT Southwestern Medical Center caregivers who were a part of the “Team Robert” support group since his diagnosis 15 months ago.
