I am sorry for your family's loss. GOD tells is that he will wipe the tears from our eyes and death and pain will be no more the former things have passed away. I hope you find comfort in him during these difficult days.

I lost both of my grandparents over the last few months. It was first time that I had ever lost any of my immediate family or friends. In loss a lot of internal things that are not usually expressed come to the surface. You hug loved ones a little longer. Sadness and happiness intertwine and you can't help but to feel appreciative of the love around you. My grandparents were together forever.
 My mom would tell us stories of them and it felt like a time that isn't even recognizable today. When I think about them I think about the colors of their house and neighborhood they spent their life in. The basement my brother and I would play in and their church that they loved so much. The trip we would take. One thousand miles north on I-35.  
My grandparents were a perfect blend of strong and sweet. Strong in their morals and just as sweet of grandparents as you could depict in a kids book. They were proud of their grandchildren. We didn't get to see each other often but even as they got older they would still hop in that old van. One thousand miles south on I-35. Together.
My mom brought my grandparents to Texas a few years back as their health deteriorated. I was able to see them more often and they were able to meet their great grandchildren. That is something I will always be thankful for. Even though they weren't home my mom made them feel that way before long. She took care of them. Every single day she took care of them. I can't imagine what my mom went through over the last few years. If you want to know the character of my grandparents then all you need to do is look at my mom. When she went up to Minnesota and brought them home to Texas because they could no longer take care of themselves I couldn't help but help think about my grandparents adopting my mom and her sister. My grandparents saved her. And she saved them. 
Grandma and Grandpa I will miss you. We all will. We thank you for setting the foundation of our family. I thank you for raising my mom the way you did. I thank you for always being there even if you couldn't. From the beginning of time you were together. Even today it was only right to be together. We all love you and will never forget you. I am happy that you are now free to be together forever.

My grandma and grandpa were some of the most caring and loving people you could ever meet. They always took an interest in any of our hobbies or activities. One of my favorite places to be growing up was in their basement wrestling around with Corey or playing with action figures on their staircase. Grandma always loved feeding and talking sports with me while grandpa would be showing me how to play a game on his computer. My only wish is that my grandparents lived closer for a larger portion of my life so that I could've gotten to know them better. My grandparents were very special people and they will truly be missed.

My grandparents were your quintessential north Midwesterners. Extremely polite, stern and calm for as long as I can remember. I can distinctly recall my parents taking us up to visit them in Minnesota and staying at their house which was like stepping back in time. My grandmother baking and bustling about the house trying to get us to look at the birds outside. The smell of the old basement we played in with that old school yellow paint as little kids. My grandfather watching golf and snoring or talking to my brother about trains. There was a certain calm comfort to it all. It's how I imagine things were before HD TV, cell phones and high speed internet. I see shows like Fargo and hear my coworkers with that lovely familiar northern accent and I can't help but to reminisce back to those days with the memories coming back to me with almost certain clarity as if I were there just yesterday. I'll always have those memories with me. And If there's one thing I know for sure, however they'll be remembered by those they loved and who loved them, they will always be missed greatly. May god bless their souls and they rest in peace.

  Grandma and grandpa I'm so thankful to have had a grandma as great you. Thank you for teaching me everything I know about baking and taking the time to do it with me. You didn't know it but it meant the world to me. Grandpa I miss your big smile you always have on your face and your sarcasm and jokes toward everyone. So happy I got to watch the planes take off with you. I love and miss you both.

  It has been a while since the last time I spoke with grandma and grandpa face-to-face, and I regret not having had an opportunity to spend more time with them before they passed. I can recall bits and pieces of family gatherings and visits over the years  eating together or maybe playing with toys in the living room while they chatted with mom and dad and whoever else was there  but most of these are from when I was much younger, and many of the specific details have since faded from memory.

I don't feel upset that I cannot really relive these moments, though. Maybe it's just because of my crappy eyesight, being used to missing the finer points, but what I can see and find comfort in are the broad strokes: The sounds of their voices and laughter, the calmness I felt when I was with them, the encouragement they offered as I told them of my plans for my future, and the warmth I feel now as I think of them. With these in my mind and my heart, I will always carry with me this precious, impressionist, portrait of them.
