Robbie Jo Butalla

Robbie Jo Butalla was born on March 8, 1926 in Johnson County, Texas to Ross and Freddye Mae Moore. She grew up on a cotton farm in the rural community of Alvarado with her sister Olive and brothers A.J. and Wayne. Jo attended school in Grandview, Texas and graduated from Grandview High School in 1945.

Following graduation, Jo was employed at Montgomery Ward in the city of Fort Worth. The Greyhound bus provided Jo transportation to and from work along with the opportunity to meet Edward John Butalla, a young U.S. Army Sergeant from Fort Hood who had recently returned from World War II. A romance sparked from this chance meeting and two lives were forever changed for the better!

Jo and Ed married on November 3, 1945 and then began their life together in Fort Worth. They were blessed with two daughters, Delois and Donna. After several years as a homemaker, Jo returned to the workforce as a proofreader for local printing company Stafford & Lowdon.

Family was a source of great joy to Jo. She loved and treasured her husband, daughters, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Known as “Mom” by family, Jo exhibited her love in many ways. She was legendary for her delicious home-cooked meals and hosting the entire family for Sunday dinners. Birthdays were never forgotten by Mom and her grands and greats delighted in the special Valentine cards they received from her. Each and every family member knew without question that they were loved dearly by Mom!

Jo and Ed were long-time members of their beloved church, Southcliff Baptist and the “Early Birds” Bible study group. They enjoyed the many relationships that flourished as they studied God’s word each Sunday morning alongside Christian brothers and sisters. Jo cherished these friendships and was grateful to God for the gift of her church family.

Jo lived her life each day loving her Heavenly Father, her family, and her friends.

Jo was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three siblings and son-in-law Jim Terry. She is survived by daughters Delois Ford (Doug) and Donna Terry; grandchildren Robin Brazell (Wes), Christie Nasrallah (Fadi), Chad Terry (Anne), Holly Cole (Darrin); eight great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Venita Moore.
