Rita was born on September 24, 1958 to the parentage of Richard and Marie Mitchell in Greenville, Texas. Parents matriculated in Fort Worth in 1965 with children in tow. Richard Charles, Jr., Ruby, Rita, Treena and Michael. Rita the middle in the bunch stood out as the leader not only among her siblings but throughout the neighborhood. She was trusted enough to press hair with Crisco; a problem solver and counselor in her own right. She was a fashionista, a cook, a Foster Parent and she opened her heart and open her doors to any and all. Rita attended the Fort Worth Independent School District and graduated from R.L. Paschal High School in 1977. After graduating high school she discovered her passion for caring for others, one of her first job was in a nursing home. She caught the eye of the love of her life, Bert McElroy and they became husband and wife on September 23, 1978. They welcomed their first bundle of joy, Lakenya the very next year and two years later another precious daughter, Shakera. The Lord blessed them with a special set of twins, their entry and exit was very short she now rests with her babies. A gracious God saw fit to gift she and her husband with a quiver full of children, the vey first to come was Isaiah then Tyikka, Zharkyra, Dontrell, Raythel, Whitney, Triniti. Most recent to join the flock were, Joseph, Omarin and Justin. Rita accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Como First Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth. On June 26, 2021 Rita heard and answered the master's call from labor to reward. She's preceded in death by parents, Richard and Marie Mitchell and beloved twin babies, Latoya and LaKeshya. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 43 years.
