Rickey McGee was born on March 2nd, 1958, in Fort Worth, Texas to Rose Mary and WC
McGee. During his formative years, he attended Fort Worth public schools, where he
discovered his passion for music. His dedication to his craft led him to join the marching
band and eventually rise to the esteemed position of Drum Major in his senior year.
Rickey's pursuit of knowledge continued as he attended the University of Texas at Arlington
(UTA) and Tarrant County College (TCC), where he earned an Associate’s Degree in
Laboratory Studies. In 1985, Rickey embarked on a remarkable career at Dannon Yogurt in Fort Worth, TX. Over the span of 37 years, he dedicated his time and expertise to the company, retiring in 2022.
Beyond his professional achievements, Rickey played a significant role in his community. He was actively involved with the Fort Chapter of the Names Project, serving as Co-Chair alongside his good friend Randy Linville.
Rickey's zest for life was evident in his love for travel, often accompanied by his lifelong friends Delores Fisher and Eloise Clark, as well as his tag-along sister Yolanda. His passion for the Texas Rangers games was a cherished family affair, and when he wasn't attending the games, he found joy in watching them with his mother. Apart from his enthusiasm for baseball, Rickey was a talented baker whose creations will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of tasting them.
Rickey is preceded in death by his father, WC McGee, and his youngest brother, Myron. His legacy is carried forward by his surviving family members: his mother Rose Mary, sister Alicia Myers, brother Michael and his wife Cheryl, and his sister Yolanda. He also leaves behind two nephews, Marus McGee (Conda), Fred Myers, and niece Maya McGee. His only surviving aunt Amanda McHenry, bonus Aunt Hattie Boyd, bonus little sister Mary Nguyen, along with numerous cousins and a host of relatives and friends, who will continue to celebrate his life and cherish his memory.
Rickey McGee's life was a testament to dedication, love, and community. His contributions, both professionally and personally, have left an indelible mark on those who knew him.
