Raymond Earl Wadsworth was born on November 25, 1929 to Grady and Susie Wadsworth in Sardis, TX. He was the oldest of four siblings. He graduated from Waxahachie High School. Ray married Bettie Allen on Valentine’s Day, they were married for more than fifty years. Ray and Bettie raised three children, Kathy, Michael and Linda.
Ray served in the Air Force for four years and was stationed at Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio. The family moved to Fort Worth and he began his career in aeronautics. He worked for Convair/General Dynamics/Lockheed and retired after 41 years. He was an active member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church for over 60 years where he was a deacon. He had a beautiful tenor voice and loved singing in the choirs.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bettie. He is survived by daughter Kathy Wiseman and husband David, son Michael Wadsworth and wife Betty and daughter Linda Wadsworth and husband Chris. Five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will take place at Travis Avenue Baptist Church on Saturday, August 28th at 11:00 am. Visitation before the service in the foyer from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Ray Wadsworth’s name.
