Randal’s passion for hotrods was a true testament for Need for Speed. He bought his first love, a 67 Fastback Mustang, from his sister Maudie. He was very mechanically inclined, building and repairing engines for family and friends. He could be found tinkering with his passion for hours. Everyone could always tell when Randal was coming by the loud sound of his mustang.
Randal worked for L3 Link Simulation and Training. He started his career there building and repairing flight simulators for the government. After many years in that field, he went into Testing and eventually became the Production Manager. He was very intelligent and detailed oriented, making him a valuable asset to the company. Randal was an example of dedication. There wasn’t a job too big or small that he wouldn’t tackle. He will truly be missed from his L3 family.
Randal and Susie were married June 7, 1980. Together they had two sons Randal Jr. and Jonathan. They were also blessed with two grandsons Brett and Ryan. He was known as Pawpaw. His heart would melt at the sound of his grandkids. He spent many hours playing kids games, fixing toys and bikes for his little loves. He was the best grandfather any child could be blessed with. He would participate in school field trips and donate items to the school to help the children. His first grandchild Brett is special needs. Randal would take time to attend his competitions riding in Chisholm Challenge for the Wings of Hope. His second grandchild was much like himself. Ryan would take apart everything and Randal would repair it. Randal’s love of his family was without question. He would always place his wife before himself. He will be terribly missed and can never be replaced. She would often say to him, “Who loves you baby?”. His answer was always, “You”. Their love will be forever and always.
Randal was the youngest of 8 children born to Isaac Denver Vandever Jr. and Maud Madeline Graves-Vandever. He was preceded in death by his brother Dan Milton Vandever, mother Madeline Vandever and father Isaac (Pete) Vandever.
