Phillip Alvin Hunter

Phil was raised in Nebraska, Oregon, and Indiana before going to Prairie Bible High School in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada. After high school graduation, he attended Indiana Tech University, spent almost a year in Alaska working on pipe lines, and then he returned to Indiana for more college.

He married his first sweetheart Susan Allen in Fort Wayne, Indiana on August 8, 1960 and moved to Florida and he started working for NCR (National Cash Register). Phil soon received his draft notice and joined the Air Force and moved many times in his seven years of active service where he worked on the electronic systems of different aircraft such as the F4. He was discharged from active service and moved from Laredo, Texas to Fort Worth, Texas and started working for General Dynamics. He also joined the Air Force reserve and was again working on military aircraft. After a number of years he transferred to the US Army Reserves, where he eventually retired from the military with 27 years of service. General Dynamics eventually became Lockheed Martin and he retired from there with almost 30 years of service. Phil and Susan had one son, James. Susan preceded Phil in death on February 2, 1993. Phil then met his second sweetheart, Sherrie Wooster. They married on April 2, 1994 in River Oaks, Texas

Retirement meant having the freedom to travel and have fun. Always an active golfer, Phil enjoyed playing golf around the United States and Jamaica, and fishing also kept him busy. During retirement, he and Sherrie traveled to China, Russia, Europe, Japan, and many locations across America.

Phil leaves his wife Sherrie, son James, stepchildren Tamara Unger and Gregory Wooster, sister Roberta Koishi, 8 grandchildren, cousins, aunts and uncles. Preceding him in death are his parents Paul and Olive Hunter, and first wife, Susan.
