Peggy Wynelle Scott (Lemons), 93, of Crowley, Texas, was born on April 29, 1931, in Fort Worth, Texas, to George and Laura Belle Lemons. She passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, with her family by her side.
Many things in life brought her joy: her loving husband of 69 years, Holman Scott Jr (Scottie); her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; her home and yard; and her hobbies, which included sewing, quilting, crocheting, traveling, piecing together jigsaw puzzles, reading novels, and baking sweets.
She enjoyed traveling to new places with her husband, brother, sister-in-law, children, and friends. She was an outstanding seamstress who spent countless hours sewing clothes for her children while listening to her favorite music. She enjoyed quilting in her earlier years; later in life, she began crocheting and made numerous warm blankets for her loved ones. She enjoyed spending time in her yard watching the birds visit the birdbath and tending to the flower beds.
She found pleasure in the simple things in life: sitting on the porch in conversation with friends and family, cuddling babies, watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play in the yard, hosting large family gatherings at her house, playing canasta, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and dancing with her husband, the love of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, Cleo Lemons and Imogene Anderson, and two brothers, George Lemons Jr and Allen Lemons. She is survived by her brother, Don Lemons and wife, Virginia, and sister, Patricia Green; five children: Gary Scott and wife, Ferne; Larry Scott and wife, Sherry; Laura Pruitt and husband, Mark; Rhonda Johnston and husband, Kevin; and Karen Vance and husband, Doug; twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
