To the blessed union of Marvin and Marie (Meeks) Tanksley was born Peggy Joe on January 27, 1951 She was raised in Ft. Worth, TX with her siblings, Minnie, Raymond (Tank) and Alize (Lee). She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age being baptized by her grandfather, Hiram Brooks and later re-baptized at the Prince Memorial Baptist Church.
Peggy was lovingly called Joe by her family and attended Ft. Worth public schools graduating from I.M. Terrell High School in 1969. If there was one true and enduring love in Peggy’s life it was her children, John Earl, Adriane Denise, Michael Celes, Michelle Celes and Rochelle Renee.
Peggy worked for many years in electronics at Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX until she met and married Lonnie S. Palmer and became a military spouse, being based in Fort Worth, TX, Germany, North Dakota and retiring in Oklahoma City, OK. Peggy and Lonnie loved dancing and music, he was the DJ and she picked the songs. They were a true team. She was a hard worker and believed in always working until her health made her unable to do so.
Peggy was family oriented, extremely creative and talented beyond measure. She was a talented designer with a passion for decorating her home and a natural gift for gardening, winning best yard awards at every Air Force Base she lived on. Her green thumb brought life and beauty to everything she touched. Family was at the heart of everything she did—she delighted in cooking meals, creating desserts, always making room at the table for her children’s friends, who were always treated like family. Peggy was the heart behind family fun nights and family reunions, ensuring that family history stayed alive in the memories of everyone. Her devotion to her parents was unwavering, and she made sure they were an active part of her children’s lives, weaving generations together with love and care.
Peggy took her Heavenly rest on Saturday, September 14, 2024 joining her beloved family members who preceded her in death. Her parents, Marvin and Marie (Meeks) Tanksley. Her brothers, Marvin Tanksley, Jr., and Raymond Lee Tanksley. Her sister, Sue Ann (Brooks) Powell and her son, John Earl Tanksley.
In addition to her four loving children, Denise (Philip) Duca-Semprevivo of Philadelphia, PA, Michael Tanksley and Michelle (Eugene) Marshall of Oklahoma City, OK, and Rochelle Palmer of Saint Charles, MO, Peggy leaves to cherish her memories, yet rejoice in her victory, her sisters, Minnie Mitchell and Alize (Bruce) Reed, both of Ft. Worth, TX; her grandchildren, Christopher (Ashley) Palmer and Asha (Tony) West, both of Oklahoma City, OK; Darien Tanksley, Keyerah Tanksley, Oklahoma City, OK; Dominique Semprevivo and Nicholas (Megan) Semprevivo, both of Philadelphia, PA; Alicia Tanksley, Michael Tanksley, III, Mikayla Tanksley, all of Oklahoma City, OK and Ja’den Tanksley, Mansfield, TX; her great grandchildren, King Alexander Thompson, Nina Rose West and Kalaiya Marie Tanksley. She will be greatly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
