Peggy L. Cummings

Peggy was born January 17, 1925 in Gober, Texas to the late Emmett & Una Broiles. She was the second child of eight children. She was a graduate of Gober High School when she met the love of her life Willard Cummings who she married on July 12,1946 and enjoyed 68 years of wedded bliss before his passing.

She attended Draughn's Business College to become a secretary. She worked for an oil company on the 23rd floor in the Magnolia Bldg. for several years before becoming a mother.

Peggy loved worshiping the Lord, working in the tape ministry at Richland Hills Church of Christ for many years. She also taught Sunday school & Vacation Bible school. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, and friend to many.

Peggy was preceded in death by Willard Cummings (Husband), her parents and all her siblings : Una Broiles (Mother), Emmett Broiles (Father), Iris Wigley (Sister), Lue Callahan (Sister), Ruth Broiles (Sister), Emmett Broiles Jr. (Brother), James Robert Broiles (Brother), Ben Broiles (Brother), and Mack Broiles (Brother).

She is survived by her daughter, Rita Weatherly and husband, Mike; her son, Gerald Cummings and wife Jacque. Granddaughters - Carrie Wells and husband Brad, Jennifer Cummings, Jana Gorz and husband Brad, Jayme Beckman and husband Jesse; one grandson Jacob Cummings and wife Chelsea; three great-granddaughters - Erin Wells; Hattie and Peyton Cummings; and two great-grandsons Lincoln and Charles Beckham along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and many longtime friends.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at The Lodge of Saginaw & Valor Hospice for their care and compassion.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 8th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Shannon Funeral Home (6001 Rufe Snow Dr, Fort Worth, TX 76148). Memorial Service will be held at Shannon Funeral Home Tuesday, January 9th at 10:30am followed by burial at the Dallas - Fort Worth National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211).
