Born in Richland Springs, Texas on January 16, 1936 to Mary Lorena and Owen Ellis Templeton. She grew up in Texas. She played volleyball in high school and loved it. She married Jack Anglin in her early 20’s and had three children, Pamela Joyce, Michael Wayne and Alva Ellis (Bo) Anglin. Pattie raised her three children on her own for the most part and did an amazing job. This is truly evident in the wonderful family that has resulted from her and her children and their children.
Pattie was an active member in the Eastern Star, and Daughters of the Nile. She and her daughter Pam were in a club called the Tappers. She enjoyed doing things with her family and did so as much as possible.
She loved to do puzzles. Even in her last days, she was putting 1000 piece puzzles together. She especially loved it when her family would do the puzzles with her. She loved crosswords and wordsearches as well. She loved to keep her brain working all of the time. She loved spending time with family. She attended her grandchildren, great grandchildren’s sporting events whenever she could. She has even supported her great great grandchild, Bowen, as well. Church was very important to Pattie. She loved her Sunday School class and it was very important to her to donate to missions and other efforts through the church.
Probably what Pattie was most known, besides her kindness and generosity, was for her restaurant, Mary’s Restaurant. In 1976, she took over the restaurant that her mother had started. She worked tirelessly from dark until well-beyond dark at this restaurant. Her kids worked there, their spouses worked there, and many of her grandchildren were pretty much raised there in their early childhoods. Every one that worked at Mary’s was considered family as well as the “regulars” that ate there frequently. Pattie always made sure that everyone was taken care of, including her staff. The memory of the juke box that was always playing songs and the laughter that filled Mary’s Restaurant will last a lifetime. Mary’s had THE best pies that her grandchildren fondly remember seeing her make…especially the peanut butter pie. In 2007, she retired from her restaurant and the well-known restaurant that was a haven to most, was forever closed.
Pattie was proceeded in death by her husband, Morris (Doug) Mitchell, her son Bo Anglin, mother Mary L. Landers, father Owen Templeton, her sister Joyce Marie Dorries, great granddaughter Haley Ryan Anglin and great great grandson Brody Dale.
She is survived by two of her children: Pamela Johnson and her husband Timothy of Joshua; Michael Wayne Anglin and his wife Veronica of Godley. She leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
