Burleson, TX - Parilee Lylith “Betty” Blanton, 95, went to be with the Lord surrounded by family on June 11th, 2023. She was a devoted wife, mom, and grandmother affectionately known as Nanny.
A service at the grave site will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 7100 Crowley Road, Ft. Worth, Family will receive friends for visitation at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Betty was born on April 3, 1928 in Rucker, Texas to Iva Vesti and George Boyd Crawford. She lost her father early in life and grew up with her mother and grandparents. Her mother later married Lon Carwile whom she loved as her own father. She was known as Lylith by her family and friends but when she met her husband Mace, he couldn’t remember her name so called her “Betty” which she was known as for the rest of her life. Mace and Betty married on February 22, 1947 and moved to Fort Worth where she began working for Striplings in downtown Fort Worth. Betty and Mace had two children Mike and Karla.
She began working for FWISD in 1962 as a secretary at H. V. Helbing Elementary. She also worked at Forest Hill Elementary, Mitchell Boulevard Elementary, and then moved to the FWISD Admin Building working as administrative secretary. She retired in 2000 after 38 years of service.
Betty was a member of Tarrant Road Baptist Church which is now Lake Arlington Baptist Church and Crestmont Baptist Church in Burleson. She was a member of Fort Worth Association of Educational Secretaries and the Fort Worth Retired School Employees Association. She was an outstanding cook, loved to sew, and enjoyed gardening. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Charles Mace Blanton Jr., son, Charles Mace (Mike) Blanton III, and brother George Felton Crawford.
She is survived by her daughter Karla Ellis and husband Mike; grandchildren, Jason Ellis and wife Christin; Courtney Peets and husband, Eric; Great-grandchildren, Lauren and Jace Ellis, Zakary and Bodhi Peets, and sister, Diane Wadsworth.
