Ouida Inalyn Norwood Austin was born in Retta to John Jinks and Mattie Beulah Winnett Norwood on March 16, 1921. She grew up on a farm in Johnson County and graduated from Burleson High School in 1939. She attended cosmotology school and worked as a hairdresser and as an operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone during World War II. She married her sweetheart from seventh grade, Paul Austin, and they were together for over 72 years until he passed away in 2014. Lynn was part of the Greatest Generation that stayed at home during World War II and worked, saved money for life after the war and managed on ration books. She and Paul became active members of Travis Avenue Baptist Church when he returned from the Southwest Pacific in 1945. She was a great hostess and cook, and her lemon pie was a regular request from her friends and family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors: Lynn is survived by her loving daughters, Wanda Kiser and husband, Phil, Sandra Nolte, and Paula Mackey and husband, George; grandsons, Eugene Olson, Steven Olson and wife, Devra, John Lindsey, Paul Mackey; and great-grandson, Mason Olson.
