Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 10am to 11am, and a Funeral Service will follow at 11am at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel. Norman will be laid to rest at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 1pm.
Norman was born on December 27, 1934 to parents, Vinnie and Artis Finney, in Gilmer, Texas. His parents were hard working and loving and sacrificed to give him and his brothers their best. In his youth, Norman spent time developing a desire to be a person of achievement. He was a proud graduate of Sunset High School’s class of 1953, and his dedication and strong work ethic developed as he started working with the U.S. Postal service soon thereafter. On December 14, 1954 Norman married his beloved, Mary Beth Brown, with whom he started a family. He was drafted in 1955, and proudly served his nation with the Unites States Army. He was a Korean War Veteran and recipient of a Good Conduct Medal.
In 1957, he was honorably discharged and attended college. Norman completed a Bachelor’s degree, which allowed him to have a fruitful career with several companies as a Manufacturing Representative. Some of Norman’s proudest career accomplishments were his promotions, finally allowing him to serve as a Zone Manager, and be the recipient of a President’s Award in his line of work. He retired in 2007.
Norman and Mary Beth were very involved in their church community. He served as a Sunday School Teacher and deacon at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. He very much enjoyed being the Director of the Bible Quizzers, overseeing 100 children, 30 staff members and numerous supportive parents. A beloved husband, father, brother and friend will be dearly missed.
Norman is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Beth Finney and sons.
