I flew with Darrin in the 3rd Airlift Squadron, Dover AFB, DE. We were both C-5 Loadmasters. Darrin was the consummate professional Loadmaster. I know very few people who knew as much about the aircraft as Darrin did.  Even with all his knowledge as an aircraft Loadmaster, Instructor Loadmaster, and in evaluator Loadmaster he always remained humble. Off-duty Darrin was just as nice as you’d want your brother to be, he always had time to listen to your problems or to help you increase your knowledge about the Air Force and the airplane. He is definitely gone too soon, I wish him Godspeed!

Bro…. Words can’t express the way I feel right now. Let me start by saying “I LOVE YOU!!!”  30+ years of Brotherhood between us. Our daughters, Nakia and Brit, were born a little over a month apart and we experienced the joys of becoming Father’s together. The many talks we’ve shared about life and what being a “Daddy” means to our children. Oh, the plans we had.  

You are as tough as they come, but you’re all mushy on the inside and that’s what I love about you. Strong, Mean as a raging Bull, but when it came to FAM and being a Brother to me and others, it was nothing but LOVE!  Whether it was the late/early in the morning Duo calls when we laughed uncontrollably or the serious but yet supportive and “suck that *ish up Crusher” I can’t tell you how much that meant to me. Gotta admit, this hurts sooo bad but I’m comforted knowing you made it to the KINGDOM!!!  You have such a legacy that remains in your children, FAM, Friends, and your Bro’s, me included. Nothing I wouldn’t do to see that million dollar smile and to hear you cuss me out about your Dallas Cowgirls!!!  Like Brotha Boone said, you’re a soldier in GOD’S army now and knowing you’re watching over me gives me some solace in this otherwise TREMENDOUS loss!!!  You’re all healed now Bro and maybe this will make sense at some point but right now, I’m at a loss and can’t wrap my mind around it all. 

Lifting your beautiful daughters and grandchildren, your Mom, and the rest of your FAM in my prayers. Asking GOD to give them strength, peace of mind, resolve, and perseverance!  FATHER GOD, wrap your MIGHTY ARMS of MERCY & GRACE around us all as we celebrate the GIANT of a man Darrin is. We will see and be with each other again, on the other side Bro. Darrin "DMac" McClure was a founding member of the 19th Hole Golf Group. A nonprofit organization built on fellowship and community service. 

DMac was an original. He lived life to the fullest and on his own terms and ON HIS OWN TIME. He was always last to show up but always first to assist a brother in need. We will forever miss his charm, his smile and his infectious spirit.  

Rest in Peace our brother..... none of us know how many rounds of golf we have left.....but we do know that we will never forget those memorable moments we had with you on and off the course.

I was there when you first showed up at the 86 MAS.  We always had a great time on the road and at home.  You were always a true friend to me and even though I hadn't seen you in a while you are always in my memories.  I look back on the days we had together as crew members and as friends, and I can honestly say you were always there for me.  You left us too soon, but I know you are in Gods hands now.  Rest well my friend.  Love ya brother.

Darrin McClure...you will be missed in so many ways.  I cherish the all the years of fun times my husband Toney and I had with you.  The fact that you shared your time, talents and treasures with us  benefitted our lives in so many positive ways.  You were truly a blessing to us and thank GOD for the friendship.  We love you like a true brother and as you look down upon us from heaven,  you can see how devastated we are that you are gone.  While it is understood you are in a better place, for selfish reasons we are wishing you were still here with us.

You fought for me when I was a lil ole A1C getting in trouble, supported me as I became a new young mom, painted niyahs nursery, put together cribs, drove my pregnant behind from Dallas to Altus, and made sure to give me sound advise. 

You kept me, Tiff, and Sonoma connected, held me up when I lost my dad, always asked about my mom, schooled me on buying my first house, mentored me throughout my career, and joked about my "Long-Term Hawaiian" assignment.

 I didn't get to tell you but I made MSgt. I didn't quit. I can hear you now saying "Bout damn time...LOL" My heart is broken, but you're resting now. Hug my pops for me. Love you MSgt McClure.

25 years ago… I was puking before my first checkride, because I was so nervous that I had you as an examiner.  Didn’t realize it then, but we would become friends. The mentorship and the laughter we had along the way will never go away.  So a toast to you, a friend, a brother who flew with me in good times and bad, we will see each other one day and have a drink to end the day.

Darrin, I’ve known you since 7th Grade at Olle Middle School when you had all your papers falling out of your notebook....
Man, we had some fun times running around Huntington Village & Hastings HS.
It’s hard to imagine you gone now, but I will always cherish the memories.
I will always love you, my brother & friend.  I’m forever grateful for the ways you helped me, that no one even knows!

The Military brought us together but, our friendship keep us more than just service members.  We grew up together  as young men on Travis  and became family. Our crew stayed true as we always took care of each other. To say goodbye won't do ..to say I pray to see you again in our Lords grace is the comfort I seek.
