In loving memory of our beloved mother, Michaela ‘Mickey’ Contreras Perez, who passed away on January 6, 2024. Mickey was born on March 21, 1939 to Cosme and Concha Contreras in North Platte, Nebraska.
She was married to Gilbert S. Perez and they had six children together. She raised her children in San Angelo, Texas with her final residence of Bedford, Texas.
She was the loving mother of Robert ‘Bobby’ Perez of San Marcos, Edward Perez (Ammie) of San Antonio, Irene Silva (David) of Staples, Yolanda Garcia of Bedford, Carol Trevino (Daniel) of Fort Worth, and Deborah ‘Michelle’ Perez of Bedford. She leaves behind her treasured grandchildren, Melissa, Stephen, Christopher, Erica, Natalie, Danielle ‘Nicole,’ Michael, Christopher, Juli, Audree, Ally, Marcus, Andrew and numerous great grandchildren whom she loved so very much.
We’d also like to acknowledge Jimmy Sosa, (Ally & Andrew’s father) for the love he gave to our mother as if she was his own.
Our mother was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in life with courage and dignity and always put her children first and was always there for us, whether we needed her guidance and support or just a shoulder to cry on. She was a woman of strong faith and instilled the importance of family, hard work, and doing what is right. She was a wonderful cook and was happiest making food for her family and friends, in essence her language of love for others.
We would like to take this time to thank the medical staff of the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Texas Health Alliance Hospital for their loving care of our mother these past months.
A Visitation/ Rosary for Michaela will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Shannon Rufe Snow Drive Funeral Chapel, 6001 Rufe Snow Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76148.
A religious ceremony will occur Friday, January 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 3713 E. Harwood Rd., Bedford, TX 76021.
To say our mother will be missed is an understatement. We will never be whole again without her but will honor her always by walking in her faith.
