Melvin Wrice

Melvin Austin Wrice, 81, died on May 17, 2021. He was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on July 6, 1939. He was the son of Fennie and Ada Lee Palmer-Wrice. He was the ninth child of eleven children born to this union. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Thelma Waters, and brothers and sisters, Joseph, Edward, Michael, Mary, Louise, Bernice, Katheryn, Hazel, and Annetta.

He attended Saint Louis Public School System; He was baptized at Pleasant Green Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor G.H.Pruit. Upon completion of service in the United States Army for 20 years, Melvin received an honorable discharge with retirement in 1993. Melvin was the recipient of several service medals and ribbons while serving in the Army as a parachutist and serving in the Vietnam War. Melvin's time in the Army led him to become a certified Central Texas College Food Service Management Program in 1978. His strong belief in God and a passion to study The Word led him to receive a Gospel of Ministry license in 1987 from New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. To further his education in ministry, he earned an Associate Degree from the Nazarene School of Ministry in 1993. After a career in the military, Melvin put his talent toward a 17 year career of dedication and service to the state of Colorado Department of Correction. Melvin moved with his wife to Keller, Texas to enjoy the warmer climate.

Melvin married Cynthia Alicia Trice on November 8, 1959. To this union they added twin daughters and one son. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Cynthia, sister, Lorraine Huggans, Alicia Ellen-(Ruben Boyd) Alexia Edris-(Anthony Williams Sr.) and Melvin Lionel Wrice; grandchildren, Anthony Williams, Jr., Terrance Boyd (Amanda Boyd) and Ruvencia Samuel (Saviour Samuel Sr.) great grandchildren, Janiya, Aubrey, Aria, and Saviour Jr., special first cousin, Maurice Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A chapter completed, a page turned, a Life Well-Lived, a rest well-earned and now he sleeps!
