Life story:
Melvin Ray Malone, Sr. (May 8, 1956 – November 12, 2023)
Melvin Ray Malone Sr., age 67, transitioned to be with the Lord on November 12, 2023, peacefully surrounded by close family after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Melvin was a veteran who served honorably in the Army. He was proud of his service and last served overseas in Germany. Melvin was born in Kildare, TX to Earnest Malone Sr. and Ruby Fay Malone. The family moved to Fort Worth when he was at a young age. Melvin, known as Peter, went to school in Fort Worth ISD and graduated from the Historic I.M. Terrell High School.
After the Army, he worked at Williamson-Dickie where he applied to meet his soulmate, Lyzida Nealy, who he had met at her best friend Mattie Malone’s house weeks before. He married Lyzida in 1979, where two children were part of that union, Lacreacia and Melvin Jr. His new father-in-law, Neal Nealy, helped him get employed at TexStar Plastics from where he retired. He also attended Tarrant County Junior College and later in life obtained his Associate Degree from the now Tarrant County College.
Before and during retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, playing dominoes, and entertaining his 9 grandchildren with a very infectious laugh and sense of humor. He was also everyone’s beloved bartender at family gatherings.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Lyzida, and two children, Lacreacia Sanders (Michael), and Melvin Malone Jr.; brothers, Earnest Malone Jr. & Willie Malone (Anita), and sister Shirley Newton; father-in-law Neal Nealy; five grandsons, Michael Sanders Jr., Cameron Malone, Andrew Sanders, Chandler Malone, Cayden Malone; four granddaughters, Princess Malone, Cyleigh Malone, Dakota Malone, and Marley Malone. He was preceded in death by his father, Earnest Malone Sr., mother, Ruby Fay Malone, and mother-in-law Sue Ella Nealy. Melvin also leaves behind a host of brother and sister in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other friends and family who will miss his laughter and joyful outlook on life.
