Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth. A reception will follow the service. Burial: Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Home.

Mary Helen was born in Fort Worth to C.M. and Maude Phillips. She graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth where she was salutatorian. She then graduated from Texas Wesleyan College with a B.S. and a master's in education. Later in her career, she earned an endorsement from Texas Woman's University to teach special education. Mary Helen taught second grade and special education at Meadowbrook Elementary for 37 years. She continued to teach and mentor children in the Vital Link program and at Benbrook Elementary after retirement. Mary met her future husband, James A. Jones, while attending Polytechnic Baptist Church. They were married for 64 wonderful years. Their church family was an important part of their lives at Poly Baptist and East Meadows Baptist Church where Mary taught Sunday school. Mary Helen was a Red Cross volunteer during World War II. She was also a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She and Jim were passionate about their support of TCU athletics where he had played football and baseball for Dutch Meyer. They were season ticket holders for 61 years. Above all, Mary fiercely supported her family members and friends with unconditional love and had an unwavering love of her Lord.
Survivors: Son, Phillip R. Jones and wife, Linda; daughter, Judy Jones Gaither; grandchildren, Casey Wright and wife, Carrie, Randy Jones and wife, Christina, Brian Jones and Riley Gaither; and great-grandchildren, Claire and Cate Wright, and Natalie and Luke Jones.
