Marjorie Ann Weaver, 87, of Fort Worth, TX, passed away peacefully Monday, October 28, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born in Fort Worth, TX on January 8, 1932 in a house that her father built. She was the fourth child out of six children.
Margie graduated from R. L. Paschal High School and, attended North Texas University (now University of North Texas), and received her degree in Biology from Texas Wesleyan College, now Texas Wesleyan University. She met James “Red” Weaver while in high school and they continued their relationship through the college years. They were married on May 8, 1952 in Granbury, TX., and were married for 60 years.
Margie was a Physical Education teacher in FWISD, teaching at Hubbard Heights Elementary, Greenbriar Elementary, and Westcreek Elementary, to name a few. She has many students and colleagues who speak kindly of the educator that she was. One colleague sent a message to say, “I love your mom! She was the kindest person I have ever known.”
Margie loved working in the yard and taking care of her home, but her greatest passion was her family. She was known as the “baby whisperer” because with 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren she was always holding, calming, and caring for one child or another. She earned the name “BomBom” from the first grandchild, Mandy. Most everyone who knows her calls her BomBom. She loved being out at the store or somewhere else and hearing “BomBom”. Since there was only one BomBom she knew someone was speaking to her. When she looked at the person if was often a school friend of one of her grandchildren. BomBom was loved by all who met her.
Margie hosted many family gatherings. She would prepare everything and clean-up afterwards. Hearing the voices of her children and grandchildren laugh, play, and sing made her happy. She loved having her family close. In 1993, Margie was honored by the Fort Worth Commission on the Status of Women as an outstanding woman and presented the Women in the Family Award.
Her loving husband, “Red” Weaver has been awaiting her arrival in heaven for over 7 years. He is rejoicing because she is now by his side again. She is now reunited with other family members and dear friends who passed before her.
She is, and always will be, loved by her children, Patsy Gwaltney (Larry), Kay Zavala (Eddie), CJ. Jimmy Weaver (Stacey), Janis Harris (Arthur) and Lisa Stockard (Tim). She will always be in the hearts of her 14 grandchildren: Mandy Nestlehut (Dan), Josh, Matthew, and Jamie Gwaltney, Kay’d Ann, Parker, and Preston Zavala, Blake (Shy) and Kelly McCarty, Will Harris, Saoirse and Dayne (Ashley) Weaver, Stetson and Shelby Stockard, as well as her 8 great-grandchildren: Savannah Miller, Kodey, Reagan, and Logan Gwaltney, Elizabeth, Michael and Serenity McCarty, and Liam Weaver and Step-great grandchildren: Nathaniel Nestlehut, Braylon and Teagan
