Nell was born to the late Hoyt Hilton Smith and Edith Elizabeth (Hutchinson) Smith on March 10, 1929 in Electra, Texas. She attended Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth (Class of 1946) and went on to marry her sweetheart, Robert Harrison Burt, on July 14 of the same year. After raising her two beloved sons, she went to work as a wire transfer officer for Fort Worth National Bank, retiring in 1995.
Nell was involved in her church, and was dedicated to serving her Lord throughout her long life. She was active in many civic clubs, spent countless hours volunteering in her community, and had a great love of dancing. Even in her later years, her free time was happily spent laughing with friends and dancing the night away. Her greatest love though, was her family. She was extremely proud of both of her sons, and her extensive extended family. She cheerfully attended their activities, providing encouragement and support every step of the way.
Nell was quick-witted and her smile could light up any room. She was kind, eager to serve, and loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by those her loved her.
Nell is preceded in death by husband Robert Burt, her parents Hoyt and Elizabeth Smith, and her brother Randall Smith.
Mom is survived by her two sons John Hilton Burt (Kathy) and Richard Allen Burt (Winnetta). Nanny is survived by eight grandchildren Zachary Burt (Jenny), Emily Casterline (Micah), Seth Burt (Brooke), Amy Duncan (Chris), Amy Thompson (Neil), Casey Wedgeworth (Lauren), Michael Burt, and Jerrod Trotter (Dana). Nanny had 19 great grandchildren and she loved them all!

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to staff of The Vantage at Cityview, and AlevCare Hospice for their loving care of mom during the final stages of her journey.
In lieu of flowers, it would be Nell’s sincerest wish and honor for you to make an investment in your family this holiday season.
