Margaret Ann Phillips Parks was born June 14, 1934, to the parentage of the late James Ennis and Verena Powell, in Portland, Oregon. She accepted Christ, at an early age, and was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend James Clow. He received her formal education in the Veronia, Oregon School district. On December 24, 1973, she united in holy matrimony with Tech Sergeant Alvern Norvell Parks, and to that union were four daughters and two sons. The marriage spanned 48 years. After traveling throughout the country, she and the family settled in Fort Worth, Texas, where she united with Como First Baptist Church, where the pastor was Reverend H.D. Steptoe. There, she faithfully served as an usher. After relocating to southwest Fort Worth, she united with Great Commission Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Douglas E. Brown, Pastor/Teacher. There she was a member of the Hospitality Ministry and the Seasoned Saints Ministry. She was also a member of the Beacon Charity and Social Club. During her working career, she held positions at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, APAC, BNSF Railroad, and she retired from the Chrysler Credit Corporation. After retirement she worked at Costco, until her health failed. After a life well spent, Margaret answered the call from labor to rest. She quietly slipped away on Monday, April 25, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Verena Powell, a sister Ruby McArthur, a brother Charles “Bobby” Powell and a son Kevin Rose-Wilkins. She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband Alvern (Al) Parks, daughters, Felicia, Valerie (Michael), Kimberly and Stephanie; son, Delmar (Tracey); sister, Jennie A. Cook, Brother -in law, MalachI Owens, Jr. of St. Louis, Mo, and sister in law, Phyllis Robinson-Parks of Maryland; Special Friends; Phyllis Richie, Jean Flenaugh and Nina Ruth Storey of Portland, Oregon; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
