Leona M Freeman, passed away on August 11, 2016 at Mira Vista Court in Fort Worth Texas. She was born on September 28, 1921 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to James and Sallie Rebecca Fite Bomer. Funeral Service: The First Baptist Church in Burleson at 2:00 pm, August 17. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at 1:00 pm preceding the funeral on August 17. Burial will be at Laurel Land Cemetery, 7100 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth following the funeral. Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to The Building Fund at The First Baptist Church in Burleson. The mailing address is 317 W Ellison, Burleson, TX 76097. Leona grew up in East Texas. During WWII she worked as an electrician, wiring the wings on B-24 Liberator bombers at the Consolidated Vultee plant. She later worked and retired from Monnig's Department Store in downtown Fort Worth. Leona married Albert Horace Freeman in 1972 in Fort Worth; they were married for 20 years. Leona was a member of The First Baptist Church in Burleson. She enjoyed volunteering at her church and at the Texas Health Huguley Hospital. Leona was preceded in death by her spouse, parents and four brothers; James R. Bomer; Archie L. Bomer; Foye Bomer; and John Daniel Bomer. She is survived by one sister, Mary Lee Pokropus of Colorado Springs, Co; stepson, H Preston Freeman and wife Florence, Harrisonburg, Virginia; four grandchildren and 11 nieces and nephews.
