It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Laverna Freeman, who left us on January 4, 2025 at the age of 87. She was a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother and her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Born on June 26, 1937 in St. Paul, Minnesota of Mrs. Grace Moorehead. Throughout her life, Laverna was known for her devotion to Crestmont Baptist Church where she cared for many children whom she loved deeply. She loved watching Golden Girls, I Love Lucy and Hallmark movies, all while crocheting blankets for loved ones. She also loved taking time to get her hair and nails done.
Laverna was a very loving and caring person. There was never a bad seed in anyone she met. She loved her coffee and her music. If you had to look up the definition of sweet, you would find her name under it. She loved to help at The Harvest House in Burleson, Texas for needy kids and families during Christmas and any time of need. If you ever saw her out and about, she would always have her favorite pinkish reddish lipstick on that she loved so much.
She is survived with deep sorrow by three children, Lonnie Black (Micky), Edward Freeman (Brenda), Troy Freeman (Tammy); grandchildren Douglas Freeman, Tamara Percivill, Cassie Powers, Conner Freeman, Lauren Spencer, Jessica Freeman, James Sims, Christy McBee, Stephanie Carnes, John Freeman and April Davis; great grandchildren; Breanna, Blake, Makenzi, Kalli, Bridgett, Parker, Lynnlee, Jordan, Faith, Gabriel, Mya and Elli. 3 great great grandchildren; many more family and friends.
Laverna was preceded in death by her husband, George Freeman; and daughter, Sandra Freeman as well as her 3 brothers and a sister.
The family invites relatives and friends to a Celebration of Life on Sat. January 18, 2024 from 10am to 12pm, to be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home.
The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Laverna’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
