Larry Clifton Magers of Fort Worth, Texas, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022, at the age of 73. He was born on December 22, 1948. Larry was the first of three siblings his sister Claudia and husband Jaye, and brother Mark. He graduated from University of Texas at Arlington. For more than 20 years he worked for Radio Shack and was a member of the Leaders Club. He then worked for IBM for 20 years.
Larry retired as a Sergeant Major of the Army after 20 years, he served in Vietnam, received the Meritorious Service Medal and the Warrior Citizen Award of Excellence. He was a member of Texian Chapter Order of DeMolay, Haltom City-Riverside Masonic Lodge #1331, Riverside Chapter #468 Royal Arch Masons, Riverside Council #384 Royal and Select Masters, Ft. Worth Consistory Scottish Rite Moslah Shrine Temple (Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine), and president of his bowling league.
Larry went by many names including husband, Dad, and Pop Pop. He more than lived up to those names. He filled his children and grandchildren with more love, joy, and laughter than can be expressed. Above all else, he never let any of his family and friends forget that he loved them immensely. Larry never met a stranger whether it was at the grocery store, the car wash or the bowling alley he was loved.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Gaylynn, his sons Grant and his wife Michelle, son Austin, his grandchildren Ryder, Carter, Layla, Dax and Deacon. He is also survived by a brothers in-law and a sisters in-law along with nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends and family.
The service and burial will be a private ceremony.
