Service: 3 p.m. Thursday at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 7100 Crowley Rd., Fort Worth.
Kenneth was born to Curtie and Norman E. Olsen on Oct. 3, 1951. Born in Massachusetts, the family eventually migrated south to Florida, where Ken spent much of his early life. After high school, Ken moved to Pennsylvania where he received a football scholarship. From there he went on to play for a semi-pro team in Virginia. Ken learned to play the guitar while recovering from a knee injury. Music soon became his life's passion. It was also around this time that Ken decided to continue his education and move to Galveston and eventually San Marcos. Ken met his first wife at Texas State College. In 1978 their son, Nils Charles Olsen, was born. Shortly after the birth of his son, Ken moved his family to the Fort Worth area and became manufacturing manager at Magnum Boats. It was during Ken's Fort Worth days that he would continue his music and play in the Silver Eagle and Stampede bands and with other musicians in the area. Ken's professional career eventually led him and his second wife, Vanessa, to purchase Bennett's Building Systems. As a successful businessman, Ken became a highly respected leader of his community. However, Ken was most happy in his role as a father, playing music with his friends, traveling across America, and bow hunting on his ranch.
Survivors: Ken is survived by his wife of 23 years, Vanessa; his sons, Nils and Steven; daughter, Crystal; granddaughters, Alyssa and Katelynn; and grandson, Logan. He is also survived by his beloved brother, Wayne Olsen; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and fellow musicians who loved him dearly.
