Kenneth Earl Moore was one of God’s saints and faithful servants to the fervent end. He entered the Kingdom of God on Friday, April 24, 2020 after his battle with pancreatic cancer. His favorite verse was “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28, KJV). During his battle with cancer he never shed a tear he said, “you can’t preach about heaven and be afraid to go”.
Kenneth Earl Moore, affectionately called “Kenny” by his family and friends, was preceded in death by his parents, Grant and Clara Jean Moore, and was born on February 29, 1944 in Houston, TX. Growing up as an only child he never felt alone because he had a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins that helped develop his understanding of family. To his cousins Donna, Wyatt, Levera, and Larry he was known as their “Big Brother”.
He graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School. He thought the United States Air Force would allow him to be a worldly traveler while serving his country. But after four (4) years of service and traveling only to Korea, he decided to take another path. He stumbled upon a career with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in air traffic control. In his career, he rose up through the ranks ending his career as the Air Traffic Manager of Columbia AFSS in Columbia, Missouri. After 31 years of government service, he retired to pursue his true purpose in life, to spread the Gospel of his Lord and Savior.
As a child, he was introduced to the Lord by his maternal grandmother, Levara Bogany Doyle. He was baptized at an early age and attended church regularly with his family. In late 1977, Kenneth E. Moore started his ministry career. He received a Bachelor of Theology and Doctor of Divinity from the Gospel Ministry Outreach and Theological Institute of Houston, TX. He became an ordained deacon at the Stronger Hope Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA and met who he affectionately called his brother, Elvin Simien, Sr. Later he received his calling to preach the Gospel in DeRidder, LA. There he forged a brotherhood of lasting relationships with Reverends Oscar Hobson and Matthew Kelso.
In Missouri, he accepted to pastor the First Baptist Church in Huntsville, Missouri. He married his beautiful wife, Rosalind, and after retirement moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. In New Mexico, he and his wife led the marriage ministry. He moved with his family to Jonesboro, Arkansas. While there he continued to spread the Gospel as the Associate Minister at the First Baptist Church under the direction of Pastor Curtis Wilson. Reverend Moore later returned to Texas and became an Interim Spirtual Advisor at Ben Washington Baptist Church in Irving, Texas. Everywhere he went he was committed to evangelism and teaching the Gospel.
His desire to spread the Gospel never ended and was constantly asked to start a church, but that didn’t align with his teaching. His belief was to be asked by a church to be the pastor. That request came in 2017 by the late Sis. Ruby Jean Walker-Ambrose, when he later became the first pastor of Fellowship of Faith Missionary Baptist Church (FFMBC). Pastor Moore has led his faithful members with knowledge, wisdom, and faith by “Trusting God’s Word”. He had a knack for randomly talking to people and evangelism, especially with FFMBC Brotherhood Ministry. Rev. Moore desired FFMBC members to learn more about God and righteous living according to God’s Word. “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding” (Jeremiah 3:15, KJV).
Kenneth had many hobbies which included music, photography, bowling, and watching western movies. In his early years, he was a disc jockey for a radio station and owned a music store. Although he was a master of none, he played a variety of instruments such as the bass guitar, harmonica, and keyboard. He attended a local community college and received a certification in photography. His artistic eye captured many unique shots, mainly of his family. If you called or visited him at the home, he was probably sitting on the sofa or in the office watching one of the many westerns on his favorite GRIT channel.
Kenneth will be greatly missed and loved by his wife, Rosalind Robertson-Moore, daughters, Keisha E. Moore and Nicole Woodard, sons, Ryan Michael Robertson and James Edward Woodard, II, grandchildren, D’Vonn Ranson, Maya McQuarter, Joshua Woodard, Christopher Woodard, and Rhian Woodard.
