Judy was born October 28, 1948 in Greenville, Texas to Ferrel and Dorothy (York) Childers. Judy moved with her family to Arlington where she attended school and met many lifelong friends. After graduating from Sam Houston High School in 1967, Judy worked in administrative and clerical positions. After marrying Jerry Luce in 1968, Judy's love for family grew even stronger as she became a wife and mother to two sons, Brian and Bradley. She had great pride in her role as a very loving, involved and extremely attentive mother throughout their school years and beyond. Participating, organizing, and planning PTA events and offering support to sports and booster clubs.
In 1982, Jerry and Judy opened Metroplex Heat Treat and she was able to put her administrative skills to use for the family business. Throughout the years Judy stayed very active, always creating, crafting, decorating, designing and working outside in the yard. This made for great reasons to go on shopping adventures with friends. Not many people are blessed with a continued friendship; however Judy as a part of a group that started an amazing friendship in the 7th grade. These friends have been by each others side for over 60 years, continuing to grow, support and encourage each other and their families throughout the years.
Family and friends were always very important to Judy. Another favorite activity was water skiing and enjoying time at the lake. Her and Jerry would host family and friends for countless weekends of gatherings and fun. Judy also had an extreme love and care for animals, especially dogs--considering them part of the family, even naming one after her mother-in-law Bobbie Jean.
It will come as no surprise as much as Judy loved and valued these things that her greatest joy later in life came from being called Nana. Judy has been described as an accepting, encouraging, precious and wonderful lady, always so nice, loved by everyone, dear friend to many, a beautiful soul, life long friend to many, and sister in Christ. Many have been blessed by her friendship and love.
Our hearts are hurting but we find peace in knowing she is no longer struggling and is now reunited with Bradley, Trevor and other family. Judy will be missed by so many, we know she will always be loved and always remembered.
Judy was preceded in death by her son Bradley Luce and her grandson Trevor Luce.
Judy is survived by her husband Jerry of 53 years; son, Brian and wife Melissa; daughter in law, Jenifer; grandchildren, Travis, Tatum, Tyler and Tinsley; sisters, Topsy and husband Ray, Sherry along with several nieces, nephews and many close friends and family members.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Seiden and staff, CVCCU Huguley Hospital staff and UT Southwestern Medical Center, doctors and staff, along with Tyesha Jackson for all the incredible and compassionate care Judy received.
