A Visitation will be held from 4-7pm Monday, February 13, 2023, at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel, 7301 E. Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76112
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at 11:00am at First Baptist Church in Kennedale with Pastor Bryan Eason officiating. Burial will follow at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.
Joy was born in DeLeon, Texas to William Butler (Boss) Clements and Velma Stewart Clements on April 3, 1933. She went to school at Comanche High School. She married Fred A. Carter on December 4, 1953, in Lubbock, Texas. She graduated from nursing school at St Joseph’s Hospital Nursing School where she was recognized with the award for Highest Achievement. She worked as a surgical nurse for St Joseph’s Hospital until it closed. She was involved at the Mission Arlington clinic for several years after retirement. She was also involved in activities at her church.
Joy is preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred A. Carter, daughter Linda Sue Carter, brothers Jack Clements & Billy Clements & sister June Caruth.
Joy is survived by daughter and son-in-law Freda and Warren Godfrey of Arlington, Tx, sons Michael Carter of Big Spring, Tx and Thomas Carter of Ft Worth, Tx, grandchildren Amanda (Daniel) Bazan, Linda (Dylan) Loving and Mark Godfrey, 1 great grandchild Charlotte Rose Loving, brother and sister-in-law Ray and Judy Clements and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Earl Carter, Johnny Bob Caruth, Boyd Clements, Scott Clements, Dylan Loving and Daniel Bazan.
Memorials may be given to Mission Arlington. The family of Joy wishes to extend sincere thanks to Max Serve Hospice with special thanks to Shelly, Matt, Kris Natashia, Sally, Joyce, and Crystal.
