Joe was retired Air Force for 26 years. He retired from GSA after 16 years in Accounting and Finance. Because of his love of fitness, he went to school to become a Message Therapist and still had a client up until he passed. He was an avid reader and sports enthusiast. He played football, handball, racquetball, and was often outdoors working in his yard.
The oldest of 10 children, Joe’s surviving siblings are Caroline, Grant, Gloria, and Willa Mae.
The father of three children, Joseph Bruce, Dean Emerson (deceased), and Judith. A husband to Beatrice and father-in-law to Karyn, Eric, and JoAnna (deceased). As a grandfather, he had two monikers “Pa” by Blake and Meghan, and “Papa” by Jordin (deceased), Carson, and Avery.
At the age of 86 Joe still spent most his time outdoors, reading, following numerous athletic events, especially football. If you ever asked him how he was doing you’d get the same reply, “One more day thankful”. Whether you knew him as Dad, Daddy, Pa, Papa, or friend, we will always be thankful for the time spent with us.
